Porygon (Japanese: ポリゴン Porygon) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

It evolves into Porygon2 when traded holding an Up-Grade, which evolves into Porygon-Z when traded holding a Dubious Disc.

Biology

Physiology

Porygon is the first known modern artificial Pokémon that was ever intentionally created. It was created by the Pokémon Lab according to a Pokémon Report found in Silph Co. In addition, its presence as a prize Pokémon in the then Team Rocket-owned Rocket Game Corner as well as Team Rocket's earlier control over Silph Co. suggests that Team Rocket was involved in its creation.

Porygon has a pink polyhedral body with a blue stomach, blue triangular prism feet, and a blue rectangular prism tail. Porygon has a pink, polyhedral head that ends in a blue beak and has hexagonal eyes. Porygon is made completely out of programming code. Built into this code is a Silph copyright protection preventing duplication through electronic means.

Gender differences

Porygon is a genderless species.

Special abilities

Porygon is shown with the ability to change type into one of its own moves or to resist the last move that hit it, using processes only it and its evolutions can know. These processes are known as Conversion and Conversion 2, with Conversion having the former function, and Conversion 2 having the latter function.

Porygon is also capable of changing its appearance using Sharpen, and it is one of the only Pokémon that can learn this move.

Porygon is capable of using various Electric and Psychic attacks. It also has a few Ice-type moves, in addition to the rare ability to wield Tri Attack.

Due to its man-made origins, Porygon does not need to breathe.

Even though Porygon is not fully evolved, it can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.

Behavior

Porygon can perform only the basic motions included in its program, and thus it can be said that its behavior is artificial.

Habitat

Urban

Urban Pokémon

Because they are man-made, Porygon are generally found in computers or in labs and other buildings people work, which makes them almost uncatchable.

Diet

Porygon is completely artificial and doesn't need to eat.
